Day 73

November 23, 2009

No. 36
So in relation to No. 61 I tried four new cocktails on Friday night. I tried:

Basil Grande
A living classic – Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur and Grand Marnier shaken with fresh strawberries, cranberry juice, fresh basil and black pepper

Long Vodka
A double shot of Ketel One Vodka combines sublimely with fresh lime, sugar syrup and lemonade in an Angostura rinsed glass to create this true classic

Lemon Tart
A gloriously crisp and refreshing drink combining Ketel One Citroen Vodka, Old Fashioned Bitters, fresh lemon and sugar

Ciroc Sling
A refreshingly long drink with Ciroc Super Premium Vodka, Cointreau, fresh ginger, Seville orange marmalade, pressed apple, sugar and lime

All of them were gorgeous, I have a couple of photos somewhere I will upload soon!

No. 61
I met up with four internet weirdies on Friday, only one of whom I’d met very briefly a long time ago. We had a lovely meal and then went for drinks and I had a really great time and I might even be able to mark of part of No. 64

:D

I bought the House of Holland Mock Stocking tights and wore them as part of my fancy dress costume so maybe it doesn’t count. I loved them though and intended wearing them again but laddered them! Drunken piggy backs are NOT a good idea kids! They appear to be available again though thank goodness so will buy another pair (or 2 or 3 or 4 or…)

Day 59…

November 9, 2009

Hi All, I hope you are all well and any of you doing your own 101 task are getting on well. I’ve had a bit of a hard few days but things seem a bit better now so I’m going to try and look on the bright side!

:)

No. 75
A few weeks ago we ate in a local Jury’s which wasn’t the height of excitement but we hadn’t eaten there before. Also we ate in GBK a week or so later which hopefully will be involved in No.61 and/or No. 64 in the next couple of weeks!

No. 101
If I get paid this week (recession bitten fingers crossed) I will hopefully pay off and cancel one credit card. It is fairly tiny and very much a small drop in a large ocean but I really need to get into the debt reducing way of thinking.

No. 8
Halloween or Halo-ween has been and gone and I got dressed up in fancy dress. So did my husband and his friends so they stole my thunder somewhat ;) but I did it and will hopefully be doing the same next year!

No. 22
Here’s my green dyed dress/top. I’ve been wearing it lots and got a few compliments on it. Dylon rocks!

Day 48

October 30, 2009

No. 8
Tomorrow is the big day! My outfit is almost ready. My husband has also ordered a costume so fingers crossed it will be here in time…

No. 12
I’ve been wearing my dyed green dress most of this week to work, will upload some photos of it soon!

No. 88
My mum asked me to bake her a cake for her visitors later and here is the finished article

While I was at it I did some buns/cupcakes too…

No. 92
My first postcrossing card reached Ivan a whole 3,359km away today! Hi Ivan :) Now if the postal strikes would stop I will hopefully get a few more sent out!

No. 29
Only 0.5 of a pound down this week but I have been eating like an overweight horse so I’m overall pleased with that. I’m hoping to do get back into the swing of exercising this week and hopefully it will pay off.

Day 40

October 22, 2009

No. 12
I bought a cheap green dress in Primark and tried to dye it for part of my Halloween outfit. I thought I would also have a go at a yellow dress I have as it’s a bit bright for the winter but I like the shape. One worked out well, the other not so much!

Here’s the before…

TBC….

No. 45
So I had a go at my own chicken noodle soup. It may be one to add to the recipe book @ No. 43.

No. 55
Salman Rushdie – I’ve heard the name, not sure I recognise the face, how sheltered a life I lead! Anyhoo, according to wikipedia:

Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie (born 19 June 1947) is a British Indian novelist and essayist. He achieved fame with his second novel, Midnight’s Children (1981), which won the Booker Prize in 1981. Much of his early fiction is set on the Indian subcontinent. His style is often classified as magical realism mixed with historical fiction, and a dominant theme of his work is the story of the many connections, disruptions and migrations between the Eastern and Western world.

His fourth novel, The Satanic Verses (1988), was the center of The Satanic Verses controversy, with protests from Muslims in several countries. Some of the protests were violent, with Rushdie facing death threats and a fatwā issued by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of Iran, in February 1989.

He was appointed a Knight Bachelor for “services to literature” in June 2007,[1]. He holds the rank Commandeur in the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of France. He began a five-year term as Distinguished Writer in Residence at Emory University in 2007.[2] In May 2008 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His latest novel is The Enchantress of Florence, published in June 2008.

Day 38 – Getting Better

October 20, 2009

I’ve been pretty ill this last week – might even had had flu but have some antibiotics now so hopefully I’m well on the mend.

No. 8
I had a little play about with make up for Halloween and the outfit will probably include No. 33 too.  I’m scared I look a bit silly but hopefully when I have my dress finished I will feel better about it – I am supposed to look a bit silly right?

No. 29
I have lost 4lbs (as of last Friday) so am on track though the sickness has probably helped.  I am trying to be super good this week to get another pound or two off by this Friday.

No. 45
I tried Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup from Yoko and it was quite the success!  I’m going to attempt my own version this evening hopefully.  Yums.

No. 77
We’re planning to take our niece and nephew to the Zoo just before Christmas to meet Santa.  We’ve never taken them anywhere before or been “in charge” of them so it’s quite exciting!  I will hopefully get our places booked in the next couple of days.  Ho ho ho…

No. 98
I had my second ever smear test on Friday and will hopefully get the results in the next couple of weeks.

No. 99
I sold a blouse, two dresses and pair of unworn shoes (No. 41 and see photo below) on Ebay which I was really pleased about (especially as 2 of the items sold for more than I paid for them!!). I also sold some tickets on Gumtree so I guess they don’t count – I should have putting “losing Gumtree virginity” on my list!)

Day 30

October 12, 2009

I’ve had a bit of a hard week. I’m feeling a bit run down and my cold is back worse than ever but hopefully this week will be better. I’ve managed to get a few bits done for this though.

No. 8
My halo has arrived and I have new black boots that  I will probably wear with the outfit too.  I have a few little threads and stuff to trim and then hopefully  I will be set to um… spread my wings!

No. 29
I weighed myself on Friday morning and had lost 2lbs which  I am quite pleased about.  Keeping it going is going to be the toughest part so fingers crossed there will be another 2 off by this Friday.

No. 33
I wore false eyelashes on Saturday with my fringe sort of swept to the side.  They take some getting used to but as long as they don’t fall off, I’m happy.

No. 40
I really want these tights Lily is wearing http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1219198/Lily-Allen-reveals-racy-suspenders-knees-boyfriend.html“>but don’t know where to get them.  I can find the Henry Holland ones easily enough but I don’t like them as much… the search continues!

No. 41
I wore my silver round toe shoes out on Saturday night which I hadn’t worn out before.  So one pair down, about 30 million to go!

No. 88
I tried my hand at making a coffee cake last week and we had a visitor called unannounced who tried some, I guess it doesn’t really count but here’s a photo anyway

 Coffee Cake

No. 92
I sent the card to my friend last week and sent my first postcrossing card today

Postcard 1

Day 20 – Excitemento!

October 2, 2009

Today is a good day. I’ve been quite busy but am meeting friends for a catch up later and then have a very relaxing/lazy weekend planned. I hope all other 101ers are still enjoying it.

No. 8
My fancy dress costume arrived!!!! The wig is a tad much I fear but the rest looks good (from what I could tell from trying it on in the office. Only another couple of accessories (and the nerve to wear it in public!) to find and I’m ready!

No. 92
I bought this card today and am going to write it and send it to her – provided I can find her exact address. Hopefully she will receive it as she used to have a less than honest postman/woman.

Card 1

No. 99
I am listing bits and bobs on eBay today – so far I have a pair of shoes and a dress, I am hoping to get another few bits of clothes on by the end of the day and will tick them off my list when/if anything sells as most of them are BIN/BO rather than auction as I seem to sell too many things very cheap on the no reserve auctions. If not, they will go to auction heaven…
